How do you play Daily Word Guess?

Type any five-letter word and press Enter. Each tile then changes colour: green means the letter is correct and in the right position, yellow means the letter is in the word but somewhere else, and grey means it is not in the word at all. Use those clues to narrow down the answer within six guesses.

Is there a new word every day?

Yes. A new puzzle unlocks at midnight UTC and everyone playing that day gets the same word, so you can compare results with friends.

What words are accepted as guesses?

Any real English word of exactly five letters - the dictionary behind the game holds over twelve thousand of them. Answers are drawn from a much smaller hand-checked list of common words, so you will never have to guess something obscure.

Can I see the answer in the page source?

Accepted Answer

No. Guesses are scored on the server and only the colour results are sent back, so the answer is never present in the page.
