Does the character count include spaces?
Yes, by default. Spaces are characters and are counted. Most platforms (Twitter/X, SMS, form fields) count spaces. The tool also shows character count without spaces separately.
How is word count calculated?
Words are counted by splitting on whitespace — any sequence of non-whitespace characters is one word. "Hello, world!" counts as 2 words. Multiple consecutive spaces do not create extra words.
How is reading time estimated?
Reading time is estimated at 200–250 words per minute, which is the average adult silent reading speed. The tool rounds to the nearest half-minute for practical usefulness.
